7th July 2021 – The National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) will be introducing an electronic data collection process to conduct damage assessment in Antigua and Barbuda after an impact.
Utilizing the KoBo Toolbox, data can be entered into mobile devices such as cell phones, tablets or computers. It is free and supports the full data collection cycle which includes form design, data collection, and data analysis.
The new damage assessment process will significantly speed up data collection and centralize the summary of data at the national level. Damaged properties can also be mapped by communities.
Thirty-one individuals from several disaster districts have completed the necessary training. A four-member team from NODS conducted four one-day sessions with volunteers on June 25, 28, 29 and July 1.
Individuals from Barbuda are also expected to be part of a similar training session
